Remouse is a mouse emulator and an extension of your browser. Chris Griffiths wrote this program to learn more about the computer science behind the mouse and how it works. There's an old joke: "How do you know when a computer scientist has had too much to drink?" "When he starts talking about mice." And that's because computers use mice, not trackpads, to move around on the screen. It turns out that this was just hardcoded into Windows version 1. 0 back in the 1980s, but nobody thought to change it. Even though there are other ways to move a cursor on the screen, Microsoft refuses to change it because old software might be broken if they do. So Chris wrote Remouse to see how you can use something else besides a mouse. Chris is also working on reversing the effects of carpal tunnel syndrome, so he thought it would be interesting for him to see how the mouse works, and maybe figure out how you could go about making an alternative operating system so computers could use something else besides mice. Remouse is based around an Arduino microcontroller that handles serial communications with your computer via USB. It even has its own infrared emitter with a remote control to do things like zoom out the screen. It's compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX. Chris has also released several graphics programs that he wrote to see how they would look if you could move around on the screen using something other than a mouse. Remouse is an open source project available under the MIT license at GitHub . http://www.famitsu.com/news/20131219/p05-1363378.html# - One of the interfaces is for simulating a mouse movement from one point to another point to another point... This is done with a remote control. The menu that appears from the side of the screen is called "mouse cursor", you can drag it to anywhere on the screen, and it will be moved to that point. In this way, you can drag a mouse pointer onto a link. I'm going to try using your finger as much as possible since my arm is long.https://github.com/chrisgriffiths/remouse - Chris Griffiths notes about Remouse http://www.famitsu.com/news/20131219/p05-1363378.html# - Famitsu Interview with Chris Griffiths Developer of Remouse http://www.techrepublic. com/article/get-rid-of-the-mouse-and-control-your-pc-with-gestures/ - Tech Republic Interview with Chris Griffiths http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/01/how-iimade--remouse--a-onehanded--alternative---to---the---mouse - How I made Remouse, a onehanded alternative to the mouse.Remouse Video Tutorials http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5yqIeEnk0o Remouse Tutorial Video 1 http://www.youtube. eccc085e13
